I am sitting on my living room couch looking out the back window at the maple tree branches blowing in the wind. The gray skies have turned the leaves to rust. In the distance, I see the another tree’s branches, bare naked but for a few clingy yellow leaves. Seasons change, life changes and I find myself again caught up in the beauty of this cycle.
(Amelie’s “Twinkle Little Star” Doodle Pro masterpiece.)
My daughter and her boyfriend are sitting on opposites sides of the living room each texting different people on their cell phones. In between messages, he is downloading different ringtones and plays them for their daughter to dance to.
Amelie is drawing on the new Doodle Pro she got as a birthday present. “This is your big head, mommy! Look! See?” she slides the demagnetizing bar across the board to erase her picture and starts another. ”Ooo, I gotta draw Bianca!” Her sketches are simple lines with a few scribbles, but I can certainly see the sembalance of a cat. Then she screams and says, “Look at AHHH! Scary Monster!”
And here I sit blogging. My daily distraction.
I am sure my mother would say something about how counter-productive it all is, but right now in this very moment I am so content.
