How To Get Your Children to Do Their Chores September 27, 2007

THE PARABLE OF THE WIND AND SUN

One day wind and sun saw a man walking and they both decided to have a
contest to see who is stronger. The agreed that the one who can cause the
person to take off his cloak will be declared the stronger one. So the wind
blew and blew on that man, but instead of taking off his cloak, he draws it
closer to him until finally wind give up. Then it was sun turn, he began
shining his bright  and warm light upon that man, and slowly as the
brightness of the sun grow brighter, he began to unloosen his cloak and
ultimately removed it.

yeah…I totally copied and pasted this, but I like it. :)

Channeling Mary Catherine Gallagher September 25, 2007

To sum up how I feel tonight, I’d like to share a scene from the 1993 hit movie, “A Thing Called Love,” in which Samantha Mathis portrays Miranda, a woman who knows a thing or two about struggle and triumph.

Oh, Larry… September 2, 2007

Idaho is such a lovely state and we have losers like Larry Craig ruining our reputation! Senator Craig resigned today amid scandalous allegations of his involvement in a sex sting. He says he is not gay, never has been gay…but I wonder how different things would be if he did come out of the closet? In this day of acceptance, I’d imagine his fellow GOP members would stand behind him in a show of strong support. His coming out would be the axis on which to rotate the Republican party’s scandalous image-of-late. He could run for president and quite possibly, he would win! But no. He denies he is gay, his colleagues are running for the door, distancing themselves as fast as they possibly can,  and we are left to believe he is just a pervert.

I am trying to be more optimistic so I am paying close attention to everything in my life that may seem like a downer in an effort to eradicate the behavior/item/thought/ etc…

I had this revelation the other day, something I am working to change. When at the close of a conversation, I normally say, ”Talk to you later.” or “See you later.”

I’ve noticed a number of people in my life say, “Talk to you soon,” and “see you soon.”

 Half empty? Half full?

Hmm…

Man, do they think I am a sucker! I posted my piano on craigslist.com for $450. I received the tons of response similar to the following:

“Please, condition is not a concern. I will send a cashier’s check of $3500. You deduct the amount for your purchase after the check has cleared your account. Pay the delivery person and keep $100 for your troubles of running around to get this taken care of.”

Aiee! So, here’s the deal…Cash only, local pickup. Great piano, sounds lovely when played! I am moving, can’t fit in my new home! Know anyone who’d wanna’ buy it? Send them my way!
